SONIRE Therapeutics Begins a Randomized Phase 2 Clinical Study For Patients With Unresectable Pancreatic Cancer
uncategorized
SONIRE Therapeutics (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Tohru Satoh; hereinafter referred to as ‘SONIRE’) announced the initiation of a randomized Phase 2 clinical study to evaluate the safety and efficacy of its novel High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) therapy. In this clinical trial, the efficacy of HIFU treatment in combination with second-line chemotherapy will be evaluated in patients with unresectable pancreatic cancer who are refractory or intolerant to first-line chemotherapy. The primary endpoint of the study is overall survival.
SONIRE has been developing its HIFU treatment device as a new therapeutic modality for pancreatic cancer, one of the most intractable malignancies. Fast Track Initiative (FTI) sees strong potential in HIFU as a new treatment paradigm for intractable solid tumors, given its minimally invasive nature, low side effect profile, and absence of radiation exposure. FTI Principal Hiroko Kimura has served as an External BoD member since the company’s Series A round.
