Toward a global investment chainTomohiro Anzai, Managing Partner
The environment surrounding science and technology in Japan is growing increasingly difficult. As a graduate student, I tried and failed to turn my own research into a business. That experience taught me that while Japan has a wealth of original ideas and science, the systems for growing them into businesses and bringing them to society and the world still face major challenges.
Fast Track Initiative is committed to wholeheartedly supporting startups built on outstanding science, technology, and business ideas, and to connecting their potential to new forms of medicine and healthcare. By bringing together talent, knowledge, networks, and capital from Japan and around the world, we aim to create a global investment chain: a continuous cycle in which the results and experience of one venture flow back into the next.
What matters to us is not only the growth of technologies and businesses, but the impact they can create beyond that growth. Outstanding science and technology become new options in medicine, supporting someone's life and livelihood. Those results then attract new people and capital, leading to new ventures. We are a group of people who have each, at some point in our lives, set out to pursue science. We chose this path out of a firm belief that human prosperity is driven by scientific progress. We find particular meaning in exploring, through science, the question of what it means to be human, and in transforming lives and guiding people toward happiness. Defying convention and overturning established theories is the essence of science, and the same holds true for us, whose mission is to create new industries and companies. We value creativity and originality, reject imitation, and are determined to approach every endeavor without ever losing the spirit to do what others will not.
