RIN Institute Announces First-In-Human Dose of RN-1101, A Monoclonal Antibody For Colorectal Cancer Treatment In Phase I Clinical Trial
uncategorized
RIN Institute (Tokyo, Japan; President: Kentaro Yoshimatsu), a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on the treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC) through monoclonal antibody (mAb) therapeutics, has entered a Phase I clinical trial for its lead candidate, RN-1101. This first-in-human study was initiated at the National Cancer Center Japan (NCC) Hospital in Chiba, where RIN Institute originated. A second facility at NCC is expected to join the trial in the near future.
RN-1101 is a monoclonal antibody targeting the membrane protein Transmembrane Protein 180 (TMEM180), which is highly expressed on colon cancer cells. The study consists of two phases: a dose-escalation phase assessing safety and pharmacokinetics in solid tumor patients, and a cohort expansion phase assessing safety and efficacy in patients with CRC. The clinical trial is supported by the national CiCLE grant.
RN-1101 exerts its anti-cancer effects through antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) and has demonstrated therapeutic potential regardless of the presence or absence of KRAS gene mutations.
Colorectal cancer remains a leading cause of cancer-related death, underscoring the need for novel target antigens for mAb development. Fast Track Initiative (FTI) continues to support RIN Institute as an existing shareholder, and remains committed to advancing the company’s research and development of RN-1101 and TMEM180-based therapies for CRC.
